Botany Bay

Foreshore Road is on the south side of Botany Bay. Dogs are allowed on the beach. It's is not a part of Sydney Harbour National Park, thus, you will not meet rangers here. Instead you will find lot of dogs off the leash. It's not a pretty beach, but I have a feeling that dogs don't look at the natural beauty the same way as we humans do.
The beach is about two kilometres long and stretches from Port Botany to the Airport. There are several entries to the beach, and you will always find parking there. It's only a short walk from the off street parking to the beach.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk from one end of the beach to the other. There is hardly no surf on this beach, and quite often it has very low tides. Only on really windy days there would be a surf strong and noisy enough to scare away some dogs from the water. You don't have to bring balls or sticks as here is always plenty of driftwood.

Centennial Park
Dogs are allowed in the park, which is located between Paddington and Bondi Junction. There is also a small area, where dogs are allowed off the leash as long it is under full control.

Wyong Shire

Dog off Leash Beaches:
  • Lakes Beach, from 500m north of the surf club to Ocean Street
  • North Shelly Beach, from the northern beach access walkway off Shelly Beach Road (adjacent to the golf course) to the beach access stairs opposite Swadling Reserve - As you drive north, after crossing over the entrance bridge, make the first right turn, then a left. Proceed for north for about 800 meters and turn right on Stewart St. From here it's a short walk to the beach. The leash free beach at North Shelly Beach requires a walk down to the beach, and the area is a bit rocky, but is fairly accessible.
  • North Entrance Beach - from Wyuna Avenue to Stewart Street - Just a short drive north of The Entrance you will find several small parking areas with access to the very long ocean beach. Most days the surf is rough and very often there is a strong sea mist. However, it's a nice long beach ideal for hour long walks.
Dog off Leash Parks:
  • Helen Reserve, Gascoigne Road, Gorokan
  • Reserve, Tallowood Crescent, Ourimbah
  • Drainage easement, James Watt Drive, Chittaway Bay
  • Bateau Bay Reserve, bounded by Avignon Avenue, Sabrina Avenue and Fisherman's
  • Bend, Bateau Bay
  • Lees Reserve, Wyong Road, Chittaway Bay
  • Craigie Reserve, Donald Avenue, Kanwal
  • Charmhaven Reserve, Lowana Avenue, Charmhaven
  • Reserve off Moola Road, Buff Point (excluding the sports oval)
  • Lake Munmorah reserve adjacent to Colongra Bay Hall, Colongra Bay Road, Lake Munmorah

Norah Head
There are two beaches - the southern beach is a controlled beach and no dogs are allowed, the northern beach is an uncontrolled beach, and apparently dogs are allowed here, as there are no signs. Most days the surf is rough and the undertow quite strong. It's a small beach, and it only takes about 30 minutes to walk forward and back. However, it's a very pretty beach with views to a lighthouse at the northern end. You will not find many sticks here, so it's a good idea to bring some with you.
